The 4th international science conference 'The Readings of Albertas Vijūkas-Kojalavičius 2024' dedicated to the noblemen Gelgaudai (RAVK4)
On 26 October 2024, Panemunės castle hosted the international science conference 'The Readings of Albertas Vijūkas-Kojalavičius 2024', dedicated to the nobblemen Gelgaudai. Theme of the conference: 'The noblemen Gelgaudai family and other European noble families'. Remigijus Bimba, President of the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology, opened the international science conference and congratulated the participants.
Albertas Vijūkas-Kojalavičius (1609–1677) was a historian, theologian and philosopher. He is remembered as a prominent pedagogue who served as the rector of Vilnius University. His works on the genealogies and heraldry of the nobility of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania are still relevant today. His most important work is the first printed history of Lithuania. His most outstanding work is "The Sacred Names List of the Families and Coats of Arms of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and its Provinces". The Albertas Vijūkas-Kojalavičius Memorial Medal (by Žydrūnas Strumila) and the prize for the most significant work of the last five years in the field of Lithuanian history and its auxiliary disciplines – genealogy – was awarded by the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry and Vexillology, heraldry, vexillology and others – the development, fostering, research, heritage protection, dissemination, innovative, creative, educational and scientific research activities, has been awarded to Prof. Dr Ramunė Šmigelskytė-Stukienė of the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
The conference consisted of two parts: the first session was devoted to the NOBLEMEN GELGAUDAI, the second to GELGAUDAI AND THE HUNGARIAN COMPONENT. The scientific event was attended by guests and speakers from Great Britain, Hungary, Portugal, Poland and Lithuania.

The nominal stamp "For research work in the science of genealogy, heraldry and vexillology" established by the Institute of Genealogy, Heraldry, and Vexillology: Dr Marius Daraškevičius (Lithuania), Aida Kirkickienė (Lithuania), prof. Dr Laszlo T. Koczy (Hungary), Dr Aistė Bimbirytė (Lithuania), prof. Melinda Harlov-Csortán (Hungary). To be awarded the gold medal "For Merit to Genealogy" established by the President of the Academy of Genealogy: Dr Marius Daraškevičius (Lithuania), Ricardo Charters-d'Azevedo (Portugal).
